Born and raised on the outskirts of Shamva township, Wellington strives to help local youth with acquiring and developing useful skills for life through meaningful activities. He started SIYA as a youth club in 2013, before transforming it into a registered organization in 2016. Through this organization, Wellington aims to integrate sports, arts and youth programs to empower and motivate local youth to help develop Shamva and surrounding areas through sustainable development.

Eliah Kausiyo is a Community Development Practitioner, SRH Defender, Entrepreneur and a Climate Change Advocate from a rural village in Shamva District, Zimbabwe. He is currently employed as a Programs Manager for Simukaupenye Integrated Youth Academy (SIYA). His partnership with SIYA evolved from being a project beneficiary in 2019 to being a volunteer in 2020 and then a full-time Project Officer in 2021. His life experience inspires his passion for empowering and building the capacity of young people in marginalized communities to participate in inclusive, equitable, and sustainable development. He aspires to create conducive and youth-friendly spaces where young people can engage and participate meaningfully in developmental programs in their communities. He holds a diploma in Theology and Christian Leadership, and a Bachelor of Science Honours Degree in Psychology. In the future, he hopes to see empowered and resilient young people in all their diversity fully accessing comprehensive health and wellbeing services, leading sustainable and climate-resilient initiatives, and realizing their innate potential in their lives.

Precilla Gavaza is our dedicated Monitoring and Evaluation professional, born and raised in a small rural village of Zaka, in the Zimbabwean south-east. She has 5+ years of experience in the non-profit sector of Zimbabwe, and is currently studying towards an MA in Monitoring and Evaluation with a background in BSc in Sociology. Precilla has partnered with nascent and established women and youth-serving organisations to design, implement, and assess developmental projects in low-income communities. An alumna of the 2024 UNITAR Green Livelihoods Program, the 2023 Mandela Washington Fellowship, and the 2022 Street Business School Lead Coach Training, Precilla is a self-motivated, mission-driven, impact-oriented, innovative, and ambitious leader, committed to locally driven, environmentally-friendly, inclusion-sensitive and socially-responsible development. Precilla truly believes that she has been privileged to rise above the socio-economic struggles and she sets out each day to pay forward the privileges to others still existing in marginalized communities.
